Mission

⁃ Freight Rail in North America to zero emissions will eliminate 32M MTs of CO2 annually as well as significant NOx and particulate matter.
⁃ Putting just 15% of long haul trucking on Freight Rail Land Ferries will match that diesel figure and more when road wear, tire particulates, ICE motor wear/replacement, accidents, and related injuries are considered.
Obstacles
• The Grid is neither Smart, Clean, nor Nimble.
• The Connection Queues for both Generation and Demand Loads are at TeraWatt levels and accelerating.
• Every watt of new load requires the most expensive grid generator to produce it. Typically this is also the most polluting.
• This has lead Texas PUC Chairman Thomas Gleeson to make the statement, “The megawatt that we don’t need to generate is just as important, if not more important, than the megawatt we do,”
• Transportation is a major polluter (28% USA, 23% Can.) and typically not significantly on the Grid.
Solutions
Short Circuit the Grid — Connect the Generation Queue to the New Load Queue bypassing the Grid.
Energy containers transported between generation and load on demand.
Batteries are the leading storage technology and improving efficiency faster than competing technologies.*
Standardized transportable containers are established along with all the equipment to handle and transport them.
Multi-MWh 20’ container batteries are increasing in charge density daily. A select few are designed to be mobile.
* Due to rapid development, fixed batteries lead to an equally rapid obsolescence of the vehicle In which they are installed.
